The fusion of technology, innovation, and industry came to life during an insightful visit to the Maruti Suzuki Factory, followed by an engaging startup diagnostic session for 5 winning startups of the Nurture Program’s 1st Cohort from the East and North East Parts of India, at the Maruti Suzuki Innovation Gym. This unique opportunity provided participants with a firsthand experience of witnessing the intricate processes behind automobile manufacturing and understanding the collaborative efforts that fuel innovation in the automotive sector.
The first bootcamp of the North East Entrepreneurship Development Programme (NEEDP) was organized on the 27th and 28th of March, 2023, at Cotton University in Guwahati, Assam. The 2-day bootcamp was organized to formally onboard and provide orientation to the 270 startups selected from North East India under the NEEDP program.
The startup ecosystem in North East India has witnessed a conspicuous stir in the last five years. Increased investor interest in the region, a rise in the number of startup incubators and access to the market have enabled the startup ecosystem in the region to flourish significantly in recent years. To catalyse the process, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, along with the North Eastern Council, launched a first-of-its-kind programme, the ‘North East Entrepreneurship Development Programme’(NEEDP) in September 2022 to identify and empower 270 promising entrepreneurs from the 8 North-Eastern states with well-laid incubation and pre-incubation programs

It was an Adieu & Bonjour moment at PRIME Entrepreneurship Hub at Shillong, Meghalaya on 9 August 2021 as the first COHORT of 50 startups made way for the second batch. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma doubled the enthusiasm among the entrepreneurs with his sanguine presence and felicitated the COHORT 1.0 and 2.0 entrepreneurs with Certificates of Graduation and Incubation respectively. Like last time, the Top 25 entrepreneurs from the new COHORT were awarded Rs. 1 Lakh each by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, while the next 25 entrepreneurs received Rs. 50,000 each.
Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, made his first visit to Assam Startup on 16 August to grace the third chapter of UDYAM 3.0. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts made by Assam Startup and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park for creating a fertile landscape for the startups of Assam. He also gave an indication of a grand vision by proposing the formulation of a new Assam Startup Policy 2021.
