ROLE SUMMARY:

The Manager – HR oversees all human resource functions within the startup incubator, ensuring smooth talent management, workplace culture development, compliance, and people operations. The role supports internal staff as well as contributes to founder-facing activities such as workshops, HR mentorship, and startup HR best practices. The HR Manager helps build a dynamic, inclusive, and high-performance environment conducive to innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Talent Acquisition & Staffing
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for incubator staff, program teams, mentors, and contractual roles.
  • Build talent pipelines and maintain relationships with hiring partners, universities, and job portals.
  • Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and probation reviews.
  1. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management
  • Manage HR MIS, attendance systems, payroll inputs, leave management, and employee records.
  • Administer employee benefits, confirmations, transfers, and exit processes.
  • Maintain HR documentation, employee files, and HR audit readiness.
  1. Performance Management
  • Implement performance appraisal systems (KPIs/OKRs), goal-setting processes, and review cycles.
  • Support continuous feedback mechanisms and capability-building plans.
  • Work with leadership to identify high performers and training needs.
  1. Learning & Development (L&D)
  • Plan and coordinate training programs for staff across technical, managerial, and behavioral areas.
  • Facilitate leadership development, team-building exercises, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Organize HR capacity-building workshops for incubated startups on hiring, culture, and compliance.
  1. Policy Formulation & Compliance
  • Develop and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and SOPs tailored to startup environments.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, PF/ESIC, Shops & Establishments Act, POSH guidelines, etc.
  • Oversee internal committees (POSH, grievance redressal, ethics/disciplinary).
  1. Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Design employee engagement programs, wellness initiatives, offsites, and recognition systems.
  • Maintain a positive work culture that supports innovation, collaboration, and founder-friendly values.
  • Conduct periodic employee surveys and implement feedback-driven improvements.
  1. HR Support for Startups
  • Conduct sessions for incubated startups on HR essentials—hiring, payroll, contracts, culture.
  • Connect startups with HR consultants, hiring partners, and mentors as needed.
  • Provide guidance on structuring startup teams, policies, and HR compliance.
  1. Strategic HR & Organizational Development
  • Support leadership in workforce planning, organizational design, and future staffing needs.
  • Drive digital HR tools (HRMS, attendance automation, onboarding workflows).
  • Contribute to incubator strategy, especially relating to people operations during program cycles.

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of HR laws, recruitment, performance management, and HR systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and empathy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile startup ecosystem with multiple stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset and strong organizational skills.

 ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Psychology, or equivalent.
  • HR certifications (SHRM, HRCI, HRBP) preferred but not mandatory.
