Dear Reader,

First, on behalf of IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP), I wish all a happy and prosperous New Year 2018. I believe this year, will see a big boost in the startup activities in India, catalyzed by a more supportive ecosystem.

In the first edition of 2018, we are glad to share with you valuable advice for the entrepreneurs from Dr R. Ramaraj, renowned entrepreneur, mentor and investor. He shares his insight on how to validate an idea and the steps to convert an idea to a successful business venture.

We are happy to showcase the achievements of Truckhall, a startup aiming to simplify the goods movement in India, initially focussing on the spot procurement segment, leveraging technology. They are helping the customers achieve a faster turnaround with a better efficiency, transparency and traceability.

In this edition, we are sharing the interesting journey of two social entrepreneurs – Brickcell and Medi 360. Mr Sunandan Mukherjee, the co-founder of Brickcell, describes his journey from an Optometrist working in districts in West Bengal to an entrepreneur solving a critical problem of fish farmers and enhancing the livelihood of hundreds. Mr Amar Jamadiar, the co-founder of Medi 360 shares his interesting vision on how to bring affordable and quality primary healthcare to rural India through technology intervention.

Finally this issue brings you updates on the recently conducted initiatives like the Tata Social Entrepreneurship Grand Finale’ and launch of North East Accelerator Program and announcements on our upcoming events.

Hope you will find the stories interesting. We eagerly await your feedback.
