The Black Bengal Goats is a dying species, a breed with high yielding flavourful meat and exotic hide. Goat farmers butcher the animals at a premature age wherein the offspring of this species do not mature to their full potential. Sanjevani Goats intends to solve the problem in the meat industry while simultaneously uplifting the lives of the impoverished goat farmers via preservation of good germplasm of Black Bengal Goats for artificial insemination. In the process, the farmers, who are at the Bottom of Pyramid, are taught superior goat farming techniques thereby elevating their socio-economic status through animal husbandry.

About Sanjevani Goats:
At their farm the entrepreneur maintains pure Elite Black Bengal Bucks which are collected from government authorised institutions certified to be free from any sexually transmitted diseases. Using industry agnostic techniques they collect the semen of these Black Bengal bucks which are then adequately frozen. The aim of the entrepreneur is to preserve the ‘Germplasm’ of pure Black Bengal Goats. Using cryogenic containers the Frozen Semen Dose are transferred to various distribution points in all the district of West Bengal. Trained Artificial Insemination workers then collect the Frozen Semen Dose based on requirements from nanny goat owners. Farmers are charged a service fee for such insemination. Thus farm house owners, by way of artificial insemination with pure black Bengal ‘Germplasm’ breed raise healthy flocks of Black Bengal Goats. The entrepreneur currently runs the only institution in Bengal that successfully implements the frozen semen insemination.
